Hour of code

Early in the morning we invited our buddy class room 10 to come over to our class so that we could do a challenge.The challenge was could Hour of code.Many people around the world does this challenge.When room 10 came up to our class I was so excited to start.We all had to choose our buddy and we had to go off and start coding.I didn't know how to code but when I asked my friend next to me I got the hang of it.I even bate my friend when she was a expert at it.There was lots of levels that we had to complete.Me and my buddy completed all of the level.After when our hour was finish we all got a certificate and we took a photo.

Meleane and Angel healthy living day

Today Me and Angel are sitting here waiting to cook one of the most delicious meal that we voted on Thursday.Today our class room 15 are cooking yummy fresh Pasta and fruit salad to eat for healthy living day. We can just taste the pasta boiling on the electric pot and the knifes chopping fresh fruits.We just can't wait to taste our fantastic delicious pasta and fruit salad.

Food for thought trip to the super market.

On Monday the 6th of November room 15 walked down to New World at 12:00. When we got to New world we saw Adele. Before we ever came to the Super market Adele was teaching us about healthy food that should go into our mouths and junk food that shouldn't. Also she teaching us how to read a label from per 100g. We all got  paper,a pencil and a card board to lean on. On the peace of paper were some things that we have to do and look at the labels. We were also put into groups and our group started at the bread station. We looked at the per 100g and we looked at the fibre and sugar and different kind of things on the label. After taking one hour of going around and completing our paper we all meet back in the front. Adele was so kind that she gave us a $60 dollar voucher to spend on making a healthy snack for Friday which was going to be healthy living day. Also Adele was so kind that she gave each of us a little garden to plant at home. We all had 10 each in a plastic bag and we were so happy. We all thank Adele for everything that she has helped us with and we all walked back.

Ports of Auckland Trip (Maritime Museum)

On Tuesday all of the kauri team went on a trip to the Maritime Museum. We got on the bus at 9:30 and left school straight away. Off we went down the road.We got to the maritime Museum with excitement on our faces. I was so happy that I finally got off the bus. I was so bored sitting in the bus with noisy kids.

We got inside the Museum and in front of my face was a big room where we had to keep all our belongings like our bags, hats and things we brought. We all sat down and there was a lady named Emma. She was explaining where we should go around the museum. We all got into our groups and we started to go around the museum to look at some interesting things.

We went into this big room it had some cool old boats,and had interesting facts about the boat. My favourite part out of the museum was the movie theater. Inside the movie theater looked the same like a real movie. It had chairs that are the same at the movies and it is dark inside. When you go inside you can see a big screen. On the screen is a movie that shows some olden days things they normally do.

After having a one hour tour around the museum we had a big break. We ate our lunch. After eating our lunch we walked straight down the road to the boat ride.We got on the boat and we were so excited. I was so nervous because It was my first time going on a boat ride. During the boat ride a lady’s voice on the speaker was telling us some interesting facts about the things that the workers are building. My favourite part out of the boat ride was when we went under the harbour bridge.

After the long day at the maritime museum we all bused back to school. We were all tired. I could tell the tiredness on people's faces.That was the best day.I hope that I get to go back to the Maritime museum to go on the boat again.

Niuean Language week words

Athletics

On Tuesday after morning tea.Room 15 went down to the courts and had athletics.When we got there,I saw a big person in front of my face.He was so fit and clean.He was here to keep us fit and healthy.We first started off with a game called cups and sources.He putted us into two groups.One group would be cups and the other would be sources. There were lots of little cones on the court.He said that we had to flip the cone over if you are cups so that it could look like a cup and the sources had to flip forward to look like a soucers. Then we warmed up by running and practising our starting skills.It was so fun.After when we warmed up we played another game called rabbits and rats.I was a rat.Then we had a relay I kept on beating people at the relay but It was so fun.That was our fun day at athletics.

Being in Ronald McDonald show.

On a cold and windy day the phone rang in the classroom asking for a good patroller to be in Ronald McDonald show. My wonderful teacher Mrs Barton picked me so I rushed out of the door and into the office. I was so Excited to meet him. When I got to the Office I said in my head "Where is Ronald McDonald!?" The person in the office said to go down to the hall so I ran as fast as I could down to the hall and pushed open the door. I could not even see Ronald McDonald. It was just like I was playing hide in seek. After that I heard someone shouting out my name from the staff room so I zoomed off again and into the staff room. When I got inside the staff room There was a clown that just looked like Ronald McDonald that had Big boots and striped clothes, and his whole face covered with face paint. I mostly like his red shiny hair. It was Ronald McDonald right in front of my face. I could not believe what I just saw. He asked for my name and he shook my hand. He told me to do what I do in patrols because he was making a show that shows the little kids in our school to keep safe when they are crossing. When all of the little kids got down the hall for the show Ronald came inside and started his show. I liked the show it was funny. When it was my turn to do what I needed to do I was so shaking inside. When the show was finished He shook my hand one more time and said thank you. I was like the luckiest kid ever.

Going to The Ripa Rugby game

Early in the morning I was so excited for our game.We were going down to Memorial park to play our game.I was ready and fit to play our fast game.When we got to Memorial I just panicked and I was so guilty. When our first game came up I just had butterflies in my stomach I just wanted to break down.We were versing Mt Roskill Primary.During the game I felt relaxed I was just pulling off some hard tags.After the game we added up all of the scores and the scores where 5 to 0 we had five and they have 0 I was so happy but I still cheered them up.Then our second game was us and Hay Park I could not believe what I saw what was just in front of me there were tall girls fast girls and girls that I think that we would lose.On the game I scored one try I jumped with excitement on my face.The scores where 4 all.Then our third game was with Mt Roskill again.We won against them too but I am not sure what were the scores U forgot.Then Our next game was against hay park again I was not that happy.During the game I scored another try.I was so happy.At the end of the game it was a time again.And so the coach had to go and sort it out.They gave us 10 more min of the game cause we tied again.We scored two tries and then they scored two.I was so unhappy.Then happy park scored one more try and we were all melting down like a little ice.We were nearly gonna come first with one more score but happy park took the score.After all of our game we were all so tired and the next day nearly all of the girls got so injured by the game.I was one of them because when I tried to rip the tag I ripped it and I fell to the grown so badly.Ohh and then us and our coach that taught us we went down to new world and bought a whole bag of goodies.Then we all ate the goodies and that was the end of a fantastic game.

Cook island language week

This week is cook island week.I am was so excited to learn about cook island things.I learnt lots of things about cook island.I learnt That soccer and cricket are mostly played in the cook islands.I just can't wait for this afternoon when it is going to be the Cook island assembly.I will be back again to tell you guys about  what happen at the Cook island Assembly I am so excited and I just can't wait.Here is a link to my reading task that I did for Cook island language week.    Click here to see Cook island doc

Basketball Session 2

This week we did basketball.I really enjoyed basketball session 2.Well I like both of the basketball session.I really liked the activities that we had to do with the ball.My favourite part was when we had to dribble the ball without looking at it.Well my thoughts about basketball is that basketball is a very hard thing for me.All I would know is to shoot and to just bounce the ball.Here is a photo of us doing some fantastic basketball skills.

Basketball

Early in the morning on Tuesday we went down to the hall after reading to do basketball.When we went into the hall my ears were cracking because of the big noise that people are making.I quickly saw our coach Adrian and coach Mark.We first started to warm up with a little thing.We had to jog and do lots of kind of exercise. One of the things that I was good at was raping the ball around my head but one of the things that I need to focus on is to make sure that I am focus on getting the ball around my waste.I think that basketball was an fun sport to do.

Matariki

It was a cool and windy morning.When all of the kids were excited for Matariki. Everyone was so excited to see some stars and learn about Matariki.

On Monday we went down to room 10 to make some bread.We first had half of room 15 to go down to room 10 and half if room 10 to come down to room 15.Some of us were excited to taste some nice and delicious bread.We had Mrs keys in room 10 teaching us to make bread and Mrs Barton in room 5 doing some crafting.I first went down to room 10 and Mrs Keys welcomed us in.We all took a seat and started to learn how to make bread.Mrs Keys first got some flour,Baking powder and some boiling hot water. She's first had some people to put 5 cups of flour into a bowl.Then she had another person to put 10 tea spoon of baking powder inside the bowl.She said if we are going to put 1 cup of flower then 2 teaspoon of baking powder.Then she added some boiling water then she mixed it.She mixed it until it was smooth.Then she turned on the frying pad and started to pour in the ingredients that we made.After it was cooked we let it cool down and then we put some yummy fresh butter and spreaded them onto our delicious bread.I could smell the bread.When I first tasted it,it was yum and amazing.

After that we had a quick switch the kids that were in room 15 comes down to room 10 to bake some bread and the kids that were in room 10 comes down to room 15 and make some stars and do some crafting.When I got to room 15,my class i was so excited to makes some Matariki stars with half of room 10.First of all my teacher Mrs Barton was explaining the things we have to do.Then we had to grab a buddy and start to share our Chromebooks with the little kids.We had to get a buddy to work with.The we all got a colored pieces of paper then I helped my buddy to make a star because they were so stuck on making the Matariki stars.When all of us finished we all put it in a pile on a table.

Then it was Friday. The day where everyone celebrate Matariki. The kapa haka kids were gonna perform in the hall.After morning tea it was assembly every gathered together in the hall to celebrate Matariki. All of the classes all brang there kites that they made during Matariki week.When everybody walked in we had the kapa haka group on stage and the hall was decorated beautifully.I was in the kapa haka group by the way we had lots of songs to sing.I was so excited to sing the Matariki song.When it was time to sing the Matariki song everybody started to sing a long.The song goes like this.

After the song and the assembly we all went down to the courts and flyed our kites.It was so crowded with lots of kids and some kite got riped because everybody kite was stuck.

That was the end of Matariki week.I was so tired and exhausted.I found Matariki so fun.My favourite part was when we flyed our kites in the fresh windy air.

Arabic patterns

Check out my Arabic pattern I made.This is my own design that I made on Arabic language week.In the middle I have put a heart that says my name.Also there is another writing that writes my name in Arabic How cool is that.To me it looks so fabulous looking at it.As soon as I found my name in Arabic I was like WOW.Thanks to a lovely person that translated our lovely names into Arabic.This is fun to do you can do sometimes and you will love it.

Samoan language week

Samoan Language week 

2 week ago was Samoan Language week.All of the Samoan kids came on Monday wearing there nice dress.The Samoan Bilingual classes and the teachers decided to bring all of the classes in May Road School to come to the hall because they planned to do taste of Samoa.

On a Monday morning we were learning about Koko. Where the Koko comes from,How they were made and what they do with the Koko.I learnt that the chocolate inside the Koko comes out from a Cacao tree that is build in a plantation.So they get the pods from the Cacao tree and the beans inside they cook it until it is dryed. When they are dryed they crunch the beans util they are smooth and when they are like a powder.Then they add some boiling water into the powder and some sugar,then add some milk into it and then you are able to drink the delicious Koko.In the book that we read had said you can make the koko and sell them to the Saturday market or give them to the chocolate factory.

After lunch we heard that we were next to go down to the hall to taste some amazing Koko and how they are made in real life.Everyone in room 15 rushed out the door and went inside the hall.We first got into groups of four and went to different section.The first section that me and my group stop at was section three.That section had necklaces,Big massive bowls,jewellery,Samoan broom and other Samoan stuff.Section 4,section 4 was 2 boys teaching us where the taro come out from and how they peal it.I got a turn to have a little chance to peal the taro.Section 5,section five was the final time to get a little taste of the Koko. I saw how they crunch the Koko and how they do the Koko. The Koko was pretty yum.Section 1,section one was girls talking about how they can make necklace,earrings and other things with coconut.Section 2,section 2 was nice,James was teaching us how to get the white yum thing inside the coconut.I got to taste it .

It was Friday were all the Samoan culture put on there dancing clothes and start to put on a performance for us at assembly.We all got our camera out and started to take some photo's and video.I could not believe my eyes as I saw one of the most lovely costume I ever saw out of the Samoan clothes.She had a tapa cloth around her waste and wore a Samoan head band thing around her head.This head band had some decoration on it.It has a mirror ,fluffy feathers and some shells on it.

That was the busy day of Samoan language week.I had the funniest day of my life.I wish I could see and taste some Samoan stuff again sometimes.That was the end of Samoan language week.

Book week

Book week

Book week was a week well Ops of children dress up as a character. It it was a special week for Andrea our  Liberian.Andrea was so  busy and helpful planning out activities for us to enjoy.

firstly when we went to the library on Tuesday I saw lots and lots of fun activities that we could do. all over 15 jump in the library and play the game. As Soon as I saw Counting how many Olaf are there.I started to play it.It took me a long time to find all of the Olaf that are hiding in the library.I wrote my answer down on a piece of paper and put it inside the box.Some of the activities were hard.One of the activities I thought was hard was hide and seek.We had to find what was the difference between the two pictures.All of the activities that Andrea spent her time was pretty nice and good for us to do.


Then it was Friday the day where all of the kids wear there beautiful costume.I thought my friends costume was the nicest.She became a doctor.I went around the school looking at kids costume it was pretty nice and cool.But I got a bit jealous of some of there costume.When it was assembly time I was so excited.When I first step into the hall I had a big smile on my face.The assembly was Decorated so fantastic and neat.Andrea decorated the hall so pretty.There was some shows at the assembly.We got to sing the Duffy song and some other song.At the end Andrea planned to show us a play from the book that she wrote.The play was amazing and so so funny.


That was The end of book week.My favourite part of book week was the assembly and looking at some cool costume.I enjoyed having fun with Andrea activities.
